Most people celebrated Valentine's Day yesterday. However, I and someone special celebrated "our day." It was us just being us. The great thing about "our day" which is unlike Valentine's day is that it can be celebrated 365 days a year and does NOT require an exchange of traditional gifts or any type of monetary outlay. Actually, it is a very simple concept that can make you feel good. It is the art of making someone feel special by thinking about them, calling them, or writing them. It is about letting someone know you care!
Hell, we exchanged "our's:" Will you be my our? Yeah! Will you be my our? Yeah! Okay, that may sound stupid to you guys, but so what.
Was anyone out here under pressure to BUY a gift for VD? Don't you notice that with all these commercialized/capitalistic/religious holidays you have to spend $$$ to fit in? Where is the fun of giving in that situation? Where is the spontaneity? Pish!!!
To give of self or to give a gift because you feel like it is better than some retarded holiday that builds expectations and letdowns. Mind you, a gift does NOT have to be store bought. Value is twisted in today's society. A gift can be a call, song, letter, poem, kiss, hug, or romp in the park on the spur of the moment just so you could be with that person. It could also be a picture, drawing, or painting that the individual created for you. Then again it could be something as wonderfully personal as a lock of hair.
"Our Day" is a day(s) filled with thoughts of an individual. Now that is something to celebrate. Oh, guess what? "Our Day" is not limited to the opposite sex and NO you don't have to be gay to care about a same sex individual so get over it. ~ Arachne ~ 2/15/07 @ 6:23 PM
