As much as I want my MA in history, it does seem wasteful to have to get a second BA to do so. Perhaps I can find a program that is willing to test my knowledge of history and give credit for previously acquired knowledge. If it is a paper they want, a paper is what they will get. If it is a matter of multiple choice or an interview with a professor, so be it. However, the want and need to acquire more knowledge is irking me.
It is not that I wish to make money with my degree as that is not what I seek from my credentials. More so, I seek satisfaction via self fulfillment and the sharing of knowledge. My goal has always been my Ph.D. and as I am not yet dead, that dream could and may be fulfilled.
A master's proposal was written for my alma mater Goddard College last year, however, I think I would much prefer the structure of another private institution in the United States (NY or VT) that will offer me small night classes with student participation and interaction. What I seek is not so much a boring lecture, but more at artful presentation of history and the WHYs behind the occurrences. If thought upon correctly, I would need to major in history and minor in interdisciplinary studies to see the full picture.
Call me a buffoon if you will, but I like to learn for the sake of doing so. ~ Arachne ~ April 10, 2007 @ 5:08 p.m.
